Hi! Welcome to my Feel So Good Canine Massage LLC website. Let me introduce myself. My name is JoAnne Dykhuizen and I am a certified Canine Massage Therapist, a certified Level II Reiki Provider, and I am also certified in CPR/First Aid for Dogs and Cats. Currently, my canine massage training is in the areas of pallative care and relaxation therapy and I am continuing my studies at Canine Massage Chicago so I can provide the best possible Canine Massage and/or Reiki to your special dog(s). I also attend various canine massage “hands on” workshops and seminars throughout the year and I am working toward Level III Reiki status. In addition, I am a Life's Abundance (holistic pet food/products) Independent Field Representative and a Young Living Essential Oils Independent Distributor.
Growing up, I can’t remember a time when our house didn’t have a dog - a cocker spaniel, collie, german shepherd, silky terriers and shih tzus to name a few. I still remember the joy that each dog brought into my life and I firmly believe they all helped shape my interest and passion for animals as I grew older.
When my husband, John, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1998, we were adopted by a 9-1/2 week old Golden Retriever puppy named Duke. As Duke aged, he started experiencing arthritis in his hips and back legs so I started to do research on arthritis, hip dysplasia, the need for proper nutrition and other issues that can occur in senior dogs and read everything I could. It was then that I discovered the incredible benefits of canine massage therapy and reiki not only for senior dogs but younger dogs as well.
Duke was the inspiration for me to pursue a career in the field of canine message therapy and reiki. As I volunteered at local animal shelters, I also became extremely aware of the need for care and compassion these animals so desperately need. I was amazed at the difference a gentle touch could make. Dogs have always been such a blessing to me and have brought such comfort, joy and laughter to my life, and have taught me so much that I wanted to do something to give back to them even though it will never compare to the unconditional love they have given me throughout my life. I am also committed to working with pet owners to share information on how to care for their animals and how we can all create a very special and rewarding relationship with our animal companions. In 2010, Patches (a shih tzu/papillon mix) came to live with us when my Dad passed away and although Patches is a healthy senior dog, maintaining his health and well-being is a top priority.
Below is my tribute to Duke.
